The main focus of the project is to study geodetic mass balance (Theme1.1) and glacier dynamics (Theme 1.2) by using photogrammetric techniques and LiDAR observations on icelandic glaciers. The main study area is Drangajökull ice cap in northwest part of Iceland. The work involves creation of multiple series of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and orthoimages from historical photographs of the ice cap. The aerial photographs cover large parts of Drangajökull in 1946, 1975, 1985 and 1994, which in combination with the LiDAR data allows study of a period of ~65 years of changes in the surface of Drangajökull ice cap.
