Objectives

• To establish a new joint PhD education program in glaciology with a focus on ESM and related process studies in the polar areas. 

Background

An important part of SVALI is a new interdisciplinary cryosphere research school with a much wider scope than earlier national programs. The SVALI Graduate School will educate a new generation of scientists, with a focus on ESM and related process studies in the polar areas. This school has the potential to attract international students and develop into a centre of global importance in ice/climate education, not only with a Nordic, but a global perspective. The School will organize joint courses, summer schools, workshops and crossborder integration of SVALI PhD projects and PostDoc activities.
